Red Spade Open III: ‘Flighted’ Edition: $2M Guaranteed!

The $55 Red Spade Open returns this month with a $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, including at least $300,000 in prize money for first place

This time around it’s also a ‘Flighted Tournament’ - a new tournament format from PokerStars. See below to find out how they work.
How to Play the Red Spade Open
When:
Starting Flights
- daily at 13:30 & 17:30 ET, February 13-25, and 11:00 ET on February 26
Main Flight - Sunday, February 26 at 15:00 ET
Buy-in: $55
Guarantee: $2,000,000
First Place: At least $300,000
What is a Flighted Tournament?

A Flighted Tournament includes many ‘Starting Flight’ qualifiers which all lead into the same ‘Main Flight’ final event. Every Starting Flight will play the same amount of time, and everyone who survives a Starting Flight will take their ending chip stack into the Main Flight, which will play out as a single event to its conclusion. The last survivor will receive a first place prize of at least $300,000!

Each Starting Flight will have three hours of play (15 blind levels), and if you survive you’ll take your ending Starting Flight chip stack to the Main Flight final on February 26 at 15:00 ET.

You can play multiple daily Starting Flight qualifiers until you make it through to the Main Flight! Once you’ve made it through, you will not be able to join any more Starting Flight qualifiers for the same Main Flight. You cannot buy directly into the Main Flight main event - you have to play in a Starting Flight first.

Payouts in the Main Flight final will be based on the total number of entries in all of the Starting Flight events, so the total payouts will be huge!

It’s important to remember that if you make it to the Main Flight, you will not be able to unregister, so if you can’t play in the Main Flight final on February 26, you should not enter any of the Starting Flight qualifiers.

To play the Main Flight you just need to survive one of the Starting Flights. There are 27 Starting Flights in total - see times and dates listed below. Your last chance to play a Starting Flight is at 11:00 ET on Sunday, February 26.

Once you have secured a place in the Main Flight you will no longer be able to enter other Starting Flights, so make sure you build a healthy stack of chips!

Don’t forget that there will also be a $100 bounty on all participating members of Team PokerStars Pro and Team Online (that’s anyone with a red spade next to their name in the PokerStars software). It’s your chance to test yourself against the best players in the game, and take your share of one of the biggest guaranteed prize pools anywhere online.

You can find the Red Spade Open in the PokerStars lobby by selecting the ‘Tourney’ and ‘Special’ tabs. You can also use the Tourney Filter to help find them quicker - type ‘Red’ in to the filter and the tourneys will be displayed.

You can also get your seat to one of the Starting Flights from the VIP Store. Depending on your VIP Club status, you could pick up your ticket for just 3,100 FPPs!

See the Tournament Types page for more on how Flight Tournaments work.
